I am currently reading Lysa Terkeurst's book "Uninvited". On page 5 she talks about a man she encountered at the airport. She was ready to check her baggage for her flight and realized that she had forgotten her baggage at home. She writes that she started sharing her "self-talk" out loud and suffice it to say, it wasn't pretty or encouraging. The luggage man overheard her and said, "Not in my presence will you talk about yourself this way. Absolutely not."
That phrase in the very first chapter has stuck with me. The Lord gently nudged me and asked me, "How often to you speak negatively over yourself?" Thankfully, not as often as I have in the past, but yes it's still there. It's easier for me to forgive others, encourage others and speak well of others than it is myself. Then, I sensed the Lord say, "Not in MY presence will you talk about yourself this way. Absolutely not!"
Since I have read this chapter, I have become more aware of whom I am in Christ. I am His daughter, I am a royal priesthood, I am called and I am chosen by Him. He loves me and He made me!
One of my favorite verses is Ephesians 2: 10:
"For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago." (NLT)
I pray as I continue my "focus upward" journey, I will not believe the lies of the world, but will focus on the truth of His word! I am His masterpiece and you know something else? You are His masterpiece, too!
