I am an introvert by nature and I was intrigued by the title of Chapter 4, Alone in a Crowded Room. (from "Uninvited" by Lysa TerKeurst) She states on pg. 43, "Proximity and activity don't always equal connectivity." Wow, I can certainly relate. New places can bring on a certain amount of stress and I'm usually looking for someone I know in the room at large gatherings. I like the comfortable and the familiar. It's easier to talk with people who already know me. I have a certain amount of friendship history with them and I don't have to go back to the beginning to share who I am or what I do.
However, the longer I walk on this journey with Jesus, I continue to hear these gentle words from the Lord, "It's not all about you." I need that reminder. I'm also reminded that what I've learned in the past, He wants me to share with others and to give testimony to His faithfulness.
God, through Lysa, challenged me with this question, "Do I walk into situations prepared with the fullness of God in me, free to look for ways to bless others?" (pg. 45) That totally rearranged my thinking. However, I also find freedom in that. It's not about me manufacturing something, but it's all about allowing God to work through me.
"Being full of God's love settles, empowers, and brings out the best of who we are." (pg. 46) When I am full of God's love and all that He has, He naturally spills over to those around me and others are blessed. I have prayed this passage of Scripture over others, but it takes on new meaning in this context.
Ephesians 3:14-19, "When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth. I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God."
I want to know Jesus more fully, I want Him to empower me, I want to be made complete in Him! I want this to be true of me, "I bring the fullness of God into this room with me. Therefore, I am on assignment to bring His acceptance and love into this place." Friends, we are ambassadors for Jesus to point others to Him, wherever we go. (2 Corinthians 5:20).
