Hello, My Name Is Trust Issues is the title of chapter 5 in "Uninvited" by Lysa Terkeurst. She shares several examples of trusting others or trusting in circumstances.
A "fun" game at youth group or other team-building events is the "trust fall". A person stands in front of another person or group. He/she closes their eyes and leans backward, trusting the other person (group) will catch him/her. Most of the time, it ends well, and the "fall-ee" is caught. However, sometimes the person gets hurt, even if it was not intentional.
I love this quote, from the book on page 62: "With the fullness of God, we are free to let humans be humans-fickle and fragile and forgetful." It releases us all from being and doing for ourselves and others what only God can do and be. He is totally trustworthy, reliable, unchanging, strong and timely.
Situations and people affect us. We were made to be in relationship with each other. However, we are not perfect and no matter how hard we try, we will mess up and fail. Our deepest, truest relationship must be with God first and foremost. Let this thought sink deep "...the peace of our souls is tethered to all that God is. And though we can't predict His specific plans, the fact that God will work everything together for good is a completely predictable promise." He is able to be trusted!
"Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God." Psalm 20:7 (NIV)
What do you need to ask Jesus for today as you fall into His arms full of TRUST?
