I don't know about you, but sometimes driving can be a pain. It's nice to go places, like on vacation or to a friend's house for dinner; however, at other times, driving can be a headache. Especially if you live near a big city like I do.
Some mornings on my way to work, I ask the Lord which way I should go. A few times I feel like He has shown me an easier route and I avoided a big traffic headache. Other times, I have been caught in a major traffic jam.
I asked the Lord one day, why I felt led to go the way that ended up being more traffic. I heard Him gently say, "Sometimes I will take you around the problem and sometimes you will need to go through the problem to the other side."
Wow! That's a lot to think about. It would be so much easier to "go around". It doesn't cost as much, it's more fun and usually quicker. However, when we need to go "through", that's where we grow the most. Our lives are refined in the fire of God's grace and mercy.
One thing I know to be true is that God will make a way, will lead us, and teach us if we will just listen.
"My child, listen to me and do as I say, and you will have a long, good life. I will teach you wisdom’s ways and lead you in straight paths. When you walk, you won’t be held back; when you run, you won’t stumble." Proverbs 4:10-12 (NLT)
Life happens and sometimes we get stuck in traffic."Focus upward" and see what He wants to teach you in the delay or the new route. Who knows, maybe you will find something totally new that you like better and brings you closer to God.
