Today I'd like to share another Bible verse with you. It's one of my favorites, not because it makes me feel good, but it's a great promise and weapon to hold onto! 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 has become a battle cry of sorts for me...to defeat the enemy and to take my rightful authority. He has NO place in our thoughts. Here it is in the Common English Bible:
I also like it in the Amplified version:
"The weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood]. Our weapons are divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. 5 We are destroying sophisticated arguments and every exalted and proud thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought and purpose captive to the obedience of Christ."
I love how it says that I can capture rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ. I can't just wish those ungodly, untrue thoughts away! Those thoughts need to be captured and made obedient to Christ. However, only with the assistance of the Holy Spirit and God's Word, can I claim the victory!
"For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. Hebrews 4:12 NLT
I need to read the Word of God daily and truly know it so I can have the courage to stand up against the enemy. God's Word is our instruction manual and source of truth!
