As I sat on my back deck recently, I was looking at the trees. The ones in the foreground were still, but the ones in the background were being blown by the wind. I was struck with how that is like life sometimes.

Near others, or on the surface, our life looks fine. however, further away, deeper, in the space that no one else sees; we feel blown and tossed by the wind. That wind can be circumstances or other people's opinions, or other turmoil. God wants to still the crazy and the unsettled places in our minds.

Prayer for today: Jesus, may we heed Psalm 46:10 “Be still and know (recognize, understand) that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations! I will be exalted in the earth.”  May we allow You space and time to work in our minds, hearts, and circumstances. Amen.
