From my journal: Jesus, some days it seems that I take prayer too casually, do I need to be more formal with my prayers? Then I remember that we need to come to You as children. They don't worry about how they come across or if the question or request is worded properly. They just ask. May I have more child-like faith and come to You first and more quickly. I don't need to rehearse scenarios, for that leads me to become stressed and over-burdened with worry. Let me come to You with my prayers of Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, and Supplication (asking on behalf of others.) The letters in bold spell "ACTS" so it's easy to remember.
"For an answer, Jesus called over a child, whom he stood in the middle of the room, and said, “I’m telling you, once and for all, that unless you return to square one and start over like children, you’re not even going to get a look at the kingdom, let alone get in. Whoever becomes simple and elemental again, like this child, will rank high in God’s kingdom. What’s more, when you receive the childlike on my account, it’s the same as receiving me." Matthew 18:2-5 (The Message)
This post was prompted by Kate Motaung's "Five Minute Friday," which she hosts on the Five Minute Friday website. Kate posts a single word each week and each blogger sets a timer for 5 minutes to write and then posts, with little editing. (Some weeks I have more trouble with that part than others.) Check out the other writers this week!
