I love morning...not the getting up and going to work part, but the quiet and the stillness. I enjoy my cup of coffee, read God's Word and bask in the stillness before my day begins. It feels like a clean slate before me. I can more easily hear God's voice because my mind is less cluttered.
Mark records that "Before daybreak the next morning, Jesus got up and went out to an isolated place to pray." (Mark 1:35, NLT) This has been a long-standing practice, most days for me. Some mornings, I sit on the deck; listening to the birds, watching the squirrels play, just enjoying God's creation and His love for me. My mind and soul are at rest, ready to tackle the day.
"Listen to my voice in the morning, Lord. Each morning I bring my requests to you and wait expectantly." (Psalm 5:3, NLT)
Listen to this beautiful song written by my friend Johnetta Johnson Page and sung by my husband, Jonathan C. Dow.
