Recently, I celebrated a life well lived by an aunt and recalled the 10th anniversary of my Grandmother's passing. It feels like too many friends have also lost loved ones in recent weeks. As I grow older, I've been thinking more and more about what truly matters. Life can be hard, and as cliche as it sounds; I don't know how anyone can survive this world without Jesus!
He is my Savior, Friend, Counselor, Peace, Sustainer, Way-Maker, and my Solid Rock on whom I can depend. He is who matters in this life and how I can face each day with confidence and trust!
In Ecclesiastes, the author recalls many "times" that are true of our human existence.
For everything that happens in life—there is a season, a right time for everything under heaven: A time to be born, a time to die;
a time to plant, a time to collect the harvest;
a time to kill, a time to heal;
a time to tear down, a time to build up;
a time to cry, a time to laugh;
a time to mourn, a time to dance;
a time to scatter stones, a time to pile them up;
a time for a warm embrace, a time for keeping your distance;
a time to search, a time to give up as lost;
a time to keep, a time to throw out;
a time to tear apart, a time to bind together;
a time to be quiet, a time to speak up;
a time to love, a time to hate;
a time to go to war, a time to make peace. Ecc. 3:1-8
God has made time for everything. These "pairs" I see as a positive and a negative. We may live in a broken world, but we do NOT have a broken God!! His love matters, His care matters, and His salvation matters!
As I go through my busy days, I find myself looking down. However, these verses help me to look upward so that I can re-engage with Jesus, the Author and Perfector of my faith. I pray that for you too; my friend. May you hold on to the One who will walk with you and help you make sense of what truly matters each day.
Kate posts a single word each week and each blogger sets a timer for 5 minutes to write and then posts, with little editing. Check out the other writers this week!
**Today I celebrate 8 years of blogging in this space. Thank you to all who have been around since my first post or if you are new around here, thanks for stopping by.
I have shared my thoughts on several topics, wrote for 31 days straight a few times, and interacted with other bloggers online. I've marked anniversaries, posted fun family pictures, recipes, and new or favorite dinners at beloved restaurants. I trust that I will continue to write as the Lord leads and that we can all "Focus Upward" on Him.**
