Recently I made myself a cup of coffee at work with the Keurig machine. However, within a few seconds I heard "drip, drip, drip" and wondered why it was leaking. When I went to the machine to investigate, I realized I had neglected to remove the lid of the travel mug that I was attempting to use. What a mess I had created for myself. As I began to clean up the hot coffee from the counter and the floor, the Lord gently asked me, "How many times have you come to worship, with a closed mind, or closed ears?"
Wow, yes, I'm sure I have. Just like the travel mug with a closed lid, when I have a closed mind, ears, or heart, the words the Lord wants to fill me with cannot get in and either have no effect or cannot be used to fix my mess.
Oh may we all heed the words from Ephesians 1:18: "I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in His holy people."
