One Saturday morning, I was on my way to lead worship at a Women's Event. I had brownies that needed to go into one building and my music, purse, cell phone, coffee, etc. that needed to go into the main building. I was trying to figure out how do this efficiently, so thought I could take the brownies in first and then grab the rest of my stuff, warm up and be prepared to lead worship. I had 45 minutes before we started, so felt like I had plenty of time to not be stressed.
I parked the car, and put my keys in my purse. I went around to the other side of the car, locked the door, grabbed the brownies and closed the door.... and immediately thought, I did NOT just do that. I did NOT just lock the door...with my keys, my cell phone, my music AND my coffee inside the car.
I tried to not hyperventilate, took the brownies into the building and then proceeded to try all 4 car doors. Certainly one of them would not be locked. Yep, I really did just lock everything inside, I had no phone to call my husband and my music and coffee were in there! (Everyone knows how much I like my coffee in the mornings.) It was 40 minutes to start time and counting.
So, with the help of a friend, I used his phone to call my husband to bring the keys to my car and my friend started copying the songs that I had in my worship set. However, 15 minutes later my husband texted "I'm on my way, but not sure which key is the one to your car, if any of them".
During this whole time, I kept thinking. I'm the worship leader, God has chosen me and we WILL worship! The enemy will NOT win today! I wasn't sure how I was going to lead, but I knew we were going to worship, regardless of my circumstances.
The Lord enabled me to take one step at time and I learned a whole new level of trust in Him, and in others. My friend had a new notebook ready, other friends were praying, and my husband arrived with keys. Guess what? The first one we tried worked! God is so good! I was able to get into my car to retrieve my music, my phone and my coffee, which was still warm! The best part? I still had 10 minutes before the session started and was able to lead with a new confidence and boldness. I even had a testimony to share.
All I could think of was Matthew 16:19:
"I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven."
That day, I chose to loose praise on earth as I led worship and the women joined me in praise! What do you need to loose or bind and trust God for today?
