It's a little past Wednesday, but I did make it for this week's "Taxing Hodgepodge". Joyce hosts this fun weekly link-up called Wednesday Hodgepodge. She poses questions and then encourages others to post their answers on their blogs.
1. Big week in the US of A...do you do your own taxes? What's something you've found 'taxing' lately? I used to do our taxes, but for several years we have a CPA do it. The years my husband traveled as a worship leader, made this our best decision.
The traffic around Nashville, especially coming home from work, is "taxing" my nerves lately.
2. When it comes to travel are you a last minute packer or a lay it all out a week in advance type? Do you struggle to pack light? Share a packing tip that has worked for you. I make or update my packing list in advance of the trip, but usually start just a day or 2 before we leave. I like to have a few extra things in case I change my mind on an outfit, or my mood changes. I find that rolling shirts and pants seems to take up less room in the suitcase.
3. April is National Grilled Cheese Month. Hmmm...who knew it got its own month? Do you like a grilled cheese sandwich? What ingredient do you add to take yours to the next level? Yes, I do like grilled cheese sandwiches. I love making it with 2 different cheeses, when I have them on hand. Swiss and sharp cheddar are especially good on sourdough. I think a few dashes of oregano help to elevate a grilled cheese.
4. There's a well-known quote that says - 'A ship in the harbor is safe, but that's not what ships are built for." John A. Shedd
Is constant growth necessary, or do you think it's more important to prioritize stability and peace in your life? Although I don't always like it, because I really do enjoy peace and stability in my life, change is inevitable. Oftentimes, that change requires growth. Growth can be both exciting and, at times, feel scary, but it is good. One of my favorite Bible verses is Isaiah 43:19 (here in the Voice Translation):
Watch closely: I am preparing something new; it’s happening now, even as I speak, and you’re about to see it. I am preparing a way through the desert; Waters will flow where there had been none.
God is in the growth business, and I definitely want to grow closer to Him and see my faith mature. If I always "stay in the harbor" and "play it safe", I believe I will miss out on what God is actually doing in my life and through me as I minister to others.
5. Let's wrap this up with a fun spring this or that. My answers are in bold.
- daffodils or tulips
- lemonade or iced tea (I really like them mixed together for an Arnold Palmer drink)
- gardening or hiking
- ladybugs or butterflies
- umbrella or raincoat
- floral patterns or polka dots
6. Insert your own random thought here. Ok, pretty random, but I got my haircut this week and finally decided to get a "new do". I love it, and I'm ready for summer! (Not the best at selfies, but here you go.)
