These days it seems like I am always searching. An item I've misplaced, peace, contentment, or even searching my mind for the right word... "it's on the tip of my tongue". I've also noticed that others are searching too: for keys, books, more time, rest, status, or for meaning in this life.
I love this verse:
"When you call Me and come and pray to Me, I will listen to you. When you search for Me, yes, search for Me with all your heart, you will find Me. I will be present for you, declares the Lord, and I will end your captivity. I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have scattered you, and I will bring you home after your long exile, declares the Lord." Jeremiah 29:12-14 (CEB)
I love it because even though it was written to the Israelites as a promise that God would bring them out of captivity, it's also a promise for us today! If I come to Him, He promises that I will find Him and not just find Him but that He will be present for me. He will come to me and be with me. In the midst of my searching, in the dark days of my wonderings and wanderings, He is near.
What sweet peace and assurance that brings to my too often frazzled mind and heart. Yes, things may seem out of control but I know the ONLY Person who is always in control. Jesus knows the BIG picture of my life and has my best interest in His mind and heart!
What are you searching for today? I urge you to bring it to the feet of Jesus and let Him be present for you and with you.
This post is part of Kate Motaung's "Five Minute Friday," which she hosts on the Five Minute Friday website. Kate posts a single word each week and each blogger sets a timer for 5 minutes to write and then posts, with very little editing. (Some weeks I have more trouble with that part than others) Check out the other writers this week!
