From my journal: //"Listen to My heart, My words and My will for you. When you pray, include time to listen to Me."
So often I come to my time of prayer with MY list. I'm slowly learning to spend more time in adoration and thankfulness. Can you imagine what your relationship would be like if you ALWAYS talked or complained to your spouse, child or co-worker? I think that the relationship would break down because there is no mutuality; no give and take or exchanging of ideas, thoughts, and emotions. The other person would give up.
I'm so grateful that Jesus doesn't // give up on me. He desires a relationship, a 2-way street of exchange. I need to spend more time listening because then I can receive His thoughts and become more like Him.
"For My thoughts about mercy are not like your thoughts, and My ways are different from yours. As high as the heavens are above the earth, so My ways and My thoughts are higher than yours." Isaiah 55:8-9 (TPT)
This post was prompted by Kate Motaung's "Five Minute Friday," which she hosts on the Five Minute Friday website. Kate posts a single word each week and each blogger sets a timer for 5 minutes to write and then posts, with very little editing. (Some weeks I have more trouble with that part than others and this week I had problems posting on my blog.) Check out the other writers on this topic!
