Here's a glimpse from my journal this morning as I read Psalms 111-112 and the First 5 app devotional.
Good morning, Daddy! I'm so glad You just want me! I don't HAVE to write or perform. You just want my heart! In a culture that wants us "to do". You just want me "to be". It goes against the grain.
We are to be in the world but not "of" this world.
"Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you, but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think. This will empower you to discern God’s will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in his eyes." (Romans 12:2 The Passion Translation)
You show us a better way to live that brings joy, contentment, and true peace.
I will "respond to and abide in Your perfect love by meditating on the great works You have performed in my life, giving You thanks with my whole heart". (paraphrase from Titania Paige on First 5.)
This post is part of Kate Motaung's "Five Minute Friday," which she hosts on the Five Minute Friday website. Kate posts a single word each week and each blogger sets a timer for 5 minutes to write and then posts, with very little editing. (Some weeks I have more trouble with that part than others) Check out the other writers this week!
