Recently, I was reading Isaiah 54:10,
"Though the mountains move and the hills shake, my love will not be removed from you and my covenant of peace will not be shaken,” says your compassionate Lord." (CSB)
I love the promise in this verse. Even when things feel shaky, God's faithful, unfailing, love will not disappear or be removed. His covenant is firmly in place.
During this Advent season, I have been struck afresh with the gift of the birth of Jesus in the shadow of the Cross. This is the "why" of Christmas. Why did Jesus come to earth? He came to earth to be our Emmanuel, God with us. He came to be like us, so that can be like Him.
He experienced the shaky, unstable ways of the earth to provide the redemption that we need. We are joint-heirs with Jesus of the heavenly kingdom...for all of our days. Eternity! This is the true gift and promise of Christmas. A miracle that a baby would be born to become our Savior. He is our hope, joy, love, and peace in life!
Merry Christmas!
This post was prompted by Kate Motaung's "Five Minute Friday," which she hosts on the Five Minute Friday website. Kate posts a single word each week and each blogger sets a timer for 5 minutes to write and then posts, with very little editing. (Some weeks I have more trouble with that part than others and this week I had problems posting on my blog.) Check out the other writers on this topic!
