Happy New Year! As I grow older, it seems as if the years are going by faster. As one year closes with memories, another one opens with great hope and expectation. I like to spend the last few days of the old year and the first few days of the new year, reflecting on God's faithfulness.
My "one word" for 2018 was "Courage". I started the year reading Annie F. Downs' devotional, 100 Days to Brave, which set the stage for my year. On Day 100, Annie shares "Making brave choices in your life is going to change the world. At least, it will change your world." That is so true! It has changed my world and I'm closer to Jesus because of it!
I wanted to share a few highlights from my year. I set a goal of reading 24 books (I read 25) and I continued blogging. (Praying that I will be more consistent in sharing my stories.) I also led 2 Life in the Spirit events for Aldersgate Renewal Ministries. I was blessed and felt like I received more than I gave. We also did a bit of traveling to Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maine, and North Carolina for ministry and to visit friends and family.
2018 was a year of great joys (my daughter's college graduation is one example) and some disappointments (God closed a door that I thought was going to remain open). However, God was indeed faithful through it all and I'm so grateful. I drew closer to Him and heard His voice more clearly in Scripture. I all too often plan my own ways, but am so grateful that God actually directs them! (Proverbs 16:9, paraphrase)
I don't know what 2019 will bring (or my new "one word"), but I know He is in it! He has already gone before me and will show me the way! I choose to follow Him with courage, hope, and expectation!
How has God shown His faithfulness to you? What are you expecting in 2019?
Happy New Year!
