//Kate said "your" on her post and I said "what?" How am I supposed to write on that word? My mind went to the movie (2005) with Dennis Quaid and Rene Russo, Yours, Mine & Ours. It's a comedy about blending 2 families with 18 children in total. It was also a remake of the 1968 version with Lucille Ball and Henry Fonda. Each version is funny and shows how people from different backgrounds can work together and in the end, love each other and make a new family. It's just a "tidy" little package of fun.
However, I couldn't wrap my mind around how to get that storyline into a 5-minute package of encouragement of walking with Jesus and focusing upward. I get discouraged as I watch the news and scroll through social media of so many people drawing "battle lines" and not working together at all! Right now, it just feels easier to go about my own business and not get too involved in things. Keeping my head a bit "buried in the sand" is much easier these days since there seems to be no solution, or resolution.
Then, the Lord reminded me of the Scripture that says, "Your ways are not My ways". I am so grateful that God is in control and I don't have to be! I keep coming around that same mountain of control. Each season I learn a little more and move closer to intimacy with Jesus. I believe relinquishing my control is a life-long, hard-fought lesson in which I will always be needing a remedial course.//
“For My thoughts about mercy are not like your thoughts, and My ways are different from yours. As high as the heavens are above the earth, so My ways and My thoughts are higher than yours. As the snow and rain that fall from heaven do not return until they have accomplished their purpose, soaking the earth and causing it to sprout with new life, providing seed to sow and bread to eat. So also will be the word that I speak; it does not return to Me unfulfilled. My word performs My purpose and fulfills the mission I sent it out to accomplish. For you will leave your exile with joy and be led home wrapped in peace." (Isaiah 55:8-12, TPT)
I love how these verses read in The Passion Translation above. May we all remember that God's ways are so much higher and better than we can even imagine. 2020 has not caught Him by surprise and He will use it for His glory. His word will not return void but will accomplish all that is in His heart to do! We can trust Him to lead us to our heavenly home one day, wrapped in peace, no matter the circumstances we face!
Will you trust Him today, my friend?
This post was prompted by Kate Motaung's "Five Minute Friday," which she hosts on the Five Minute Friday website. Kate posts a single word each week and each blogger sets a timer for 5 minutes to write and then posts, with little editing. (Some weeks I have more trouble with that part than others.) Check out the other writers on this topic!
