The prompt this week is: Support - Go!
Support means "to bear or hold up, to give assistance, to be actively interested in and concerned for the success of a person or cause".
I love the idea of being supported and also being supportive of others. Over the years, my parents, husband, and daughters have been a great support for me! They, along with countless friends have prayed for me, loved me, put up with me, and came to recitals and programs.
I also have supported others. I've gone to home parties, lots of concerts, recitals, theater productions and have prayed for and loved family and friends over the years. It takes time, but it's worth it "to be actively interested and concerned" to see others succeed.
I like how The Message paraphrases I Thessalonians 5:11 "So speak encouraging words to one another. Build up hope so you’ll all be together in this, no one left out, no one left behind. I know you’re already doing this; just keep on doing it." (STOP)
Looking at my life and calendar this month, I'm definitely supporting others and I'll "keep on doing it". I'm looking forward to being with my oldest daughter at the end of this month to watch her lead the elementary school's choir performance in their community. I've been supporting my husband through a season of change that has led to a renewed season of creativity. Jonathan now has 2 volumes of wonderful devotionals and an anointed CD of instrumental music. He also has a YouTube channel where he has short videos of his own teachings and insights on Scripture and life lessons.
I'm excited to support my youngest daughter as she desires to go on a mission trip with the Wesley Center at her college to the Dominican Republic in March 2018.
One more way I'm involved in being a support is that I signed up to be on a launch team for Holley Gerth's new book "Fiercehearted". I'm already 5 chapters in and I love it! This book has definitely come to me at the right time in my life and I'm ready to see what God has in store. I've never been on a launch team before, but it's great to be able to support a wonderful author and also support other bloggers and sisters in the faith. You can pre-order the book at fiercehearted.com and get some great gifts BEFORE October 3rd. You can also sign up for the Facebook online book study that begins on Oct.3rd.
Now that I've shared some ways, that I'm supporting my family and some new friends, I encourage you to check out the links.
I'd also LOVE to hear how you will support your family and friends in the comments below!
This post is part of Kate Motaung's "Five Minute Friday," which she hosts on the Five Minute Friday website. Kate posts a single word each week and each blogger sets a timer for 5 minutes to write and then posts, with very little editing. This is an exercise in the discipline of writing. Check out the other writers this week!
