The days are getting shorter and the nights (and the dark) are longer. We've had a very warm fall so far, but it has turned cold this week. Join me as I share a few things from this past month and check out Jennifer's post along with some other writers.
Something Loved: I've done a little baking this month. I love the smell of things baking in the oven, especially if it smells like fall. These snickerdoodles and a pumpkin dump cake (not pictured) did not disappoint.
Something Learned: 14 years ago, for our anniversary, my husband and I took ballroom dance lessons. We wanted to learn something that we both enjoyed and that we could continue doing. We learned the basics of triple swing, fox trot, rumba, waltz, and tango. A few days ago we brushed off our dusty dance shoes and "tripped the light fantastic" at a friend's birthday dinner and dance party. It was so much fun and like we usually say, it's like riding a bike. I'm so grateful we learned those dances all those years ago and still remember the steps! (Photo credit: Jonathan Dow)
Something Read: Do you enjoy audiobooks? I do. Sometimes instead of podcasts, I listen to an audiobook on my work commute. This month I "read" A Shadow in Moscow, by Katherine Reay. I really enjoyed it. Check it out...intrigue, a little romance, a glimpse into the Cold War era during 2 different time periods from the point of view of 2 women.
Something I Ate: Of course, I had the snickerdoodles I posted above and the dump cake was a hit with a chili luncheon we had a work. I also made a yummy bourbon brown sugar steak, brussel sprouts, and asparagus sheet pan dinner. I will definitely try that one again.
