"Return" - to go or come back, as to a former place, position, or state.
This past Sunday, we "returned" to some good memories of the last 8 years with our pastor, as this was his last day with our congregation. It's amazing to remember what our church was like 8 years ago and to see where the Lord has brought us today. We are no longer a hurting congregation, but a church full of faith-filled people who are ready to move into this next season of ministry in various areas.
As I was thinking/returning to those memories, I was also returning to some fun things that have happened over the last few months.
On a recent trip to see our daughter in Chattanooga, I realized I still like to "return" to childhood memories. I felt like a kid as I rode the carousel. The best thing? It was only a dollar!
Another fun memory from this Spring was that I tried rolled ice cream for the first time and you really can turn a food truck into a restaurant, just like the Grilled Cheeserie has done.
As I was looking for Scriptures that talk about "returning" I found Jeremiah 24:7 (The Message) "And I’ll give them a heart to know Me. They’ll be my people and I’ll be their God, for they’ll have returned to me with all their hearts." What wonderful assurance that God wants us to be in relationship with Him! Even if we mess up, He is waiting with open arms for us to return to Him. I want that kind of heart to know Him!
What do you need to "return" to this week?
This post is part of Kate Motaung's "Five Minute Friday," which she hosts on the Five Minute Friday website. Kate posts a single word each week and each blogger sets a timer for 5 minutes to write and then posts, with very little editing. Check out the other writers this week!
