//I don't know about you, but I like to have things in order. I prefer my house to be somewhat neat. I prefer my office and desk to have things organized and I truly love to have my life "in order". However, that is harder and harder to come by as I grow older and realize that I am not in control!
Recently we were at a stoplight behind a pickup truck and noticed a little bird had perched itself on the side of the truck bed. It looked perfectly happy there and stayed for a few minutes. As the light turned green and the truck started going forward, the baby bird fell into the bed of the pickup truck. We followed the truck for another mile or so, the truck slowed down and I saw the bird finally hop up on the side and fly away.
I began to wonder, now that the bird was in a new environment, and his little world was out of order, would it ever find its family again? Was it "at home" in the previous place he had been before he hopped on the truck, or was the "new place" where he was supposed to be?
The Lord gently reminded me that even the birds do not worry about their existence, their place in the world or food, because they know of the Lord's great care for them. How do they know? They don't have minds like humans.// I felt this little Jesus -nudge in my spirit, "you, who are human and have the mind of Christ, should know then...". It wasn't a voice that was scolding, but oh so loving and reassuring. When things around look bleak, uncomfortable, not in order, I need to run to Jesus. I won't find the answer to the seeming chaos around me on the internet or in my own thinking. Only in Jesus!
"The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, And He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; For the Lord upholds him with His hand." (Psalm 37:23-24 NKJ)
"When Yahweh delights in how you live your life, He establishes your every step. If they stumble badly they will still survive, for the Lord lifts them up with his hands." (Psalm 37:23-24 TPT)
I mess up every day, but I'm so thankful that Jesus is always there to lift me out of the depths. He places me where He wants me and enables me to fly with Him.
Where do you need to see Jesus bring order to your life? I'd love to hear about it in the comments below.
This post was prompted by Kate Motaung's "Five Minute Friday," which she hosts on the Five Minute Friday website. Kate posts a single word each week and each blogger sets a timer for 5 minutes to write and then posts, with little editing. (Some weeks I have more trouble with that part than others.)
