I was thinking the other day that I need to get back to my weekly writing on the Five Minute Friday prompt and wouldn't you know, this week's prompt is perfect! The word of the week is "commit". Commit means "to carry into action deliberately, to pledge or assign to some particular course, to entrust, to record for preservation, to put into place for disposal or safekeeping."
Wow! That one small word is packed with a punch. I like the picture Kate chose for this word, because it shows a penguin (which mate for life, by the way) looking like he is about ready to fall off the cliff as he takes the next step.
I don't know about you, but I feel that way sometimes. I feel afraid to take the next step because I don't what's going to happen. Will the earth hold up underneath me or will it crumble? Even though the way may not be able to be trusted, I know Who can be trusted, God!
Many years ago I committed these verses to memory:
"Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you your heart’s desires. Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him, and He will help you. He will make your innocence radiate like the dawn, and the justice of your cause will shine like the noonday sun." Psalm 35:4-7 (NLT)
God is ever faithful and ever trustworthy! When you feel like you are about to step off the cliff, He will be waiting with His arms of love! What next step do you need to trust Him for this week?
This post was prompted by Kate Motaung's "Five Minute Friday," which she hosts on the Five Minute Friday website. Kate posts a single word each week and each blogger sets a timer for 5 minutes to write and then posts, with little editing. (Some weeks I have more trouble with that part than others.) Check out the other writers this week!
