A few weeks ago, I felt the Lord nudging me back to writing on the Five Minute Friday prompt. The day after, I found out that Kate was taking an extended medical leave. I was pleased to hear that a fellow writer and longtime member of the Five Minute Friday Community agreed to keep the prompts going. So, thanks to Andrew Budek for keeping this going! (See below for the link to his blog and the other writers.)
Andrew's prompt this week is "coffee" which reminded me of this saying I found a few years ago.
I liked it so much, I had my daughter make me a vinyl sticker for my phone case. I don't know about you, but I really enjoy my first cup of coffee in the morning. The warmth of the cup in my hands, the sweet aroma of flavored syrup mixed with freshly brewed coffee, is a delight to my senses. I like it even more on the weekends when I have more time to sip and savor it.
I want that same feeling to spill over into my relationship with Jesus and His word. Too often, I'm in a hurry to read the Scripture thought for the day and check it off my "to-do" list. Do I take the time to connect with Jesus through His word? Do I delight in His word more than my coffee? I truly do need a little coffee and a whole lot of Jesus to get me through my day!
Lord, may I savor and honor Your Word more than my morning coffee. Let me read and then meditate on Your living Word so it will fuel my heart and mind for the day. Amen.
Andrew posts a single word each week, and each blogger sets a timer for 5 minutes to write and then posts, with little editing. Check out the other writers this week!
