I think I say this every month, but it seems like time is flying through the months. It's already the end of April and time for Share Four Somethings! I pray you are blessed by my observations of God's goodness and that you'll check out another writer or two through the link.
Something Loved: The smell of fresh-cut grass, the site of our recently bloomed azalea bush and the sound of birds singing as I go out the door for my very early start time at work. They always sound so cheerful just before the sun comes up.
I also took today off and explored a bit of downtown Nashville, near the Nations, where I hadn't been before. Breakfast and a bit of writing outside at White Bison Coffee, a bit of shopping at L and L Market, and a walk around the lake at Centennial Park. A lovely, sunny day to relax and just be. I was especially happy to finally see the mural on the old concrete silo!
Something Read: A Place to Land: A Story of Longing and Belonging has been my book of choice for this month. I have had the book for a long time on my Kindle and decided to finally read it. It is beautifully written by my online friend and host of the Five Minute Friday Community, Kate Motaung. It's a memoir that asks and seeks to answer the question "Where is my home?" She shares stories that are sweet and at times raw with emotion. She weaves Scripture throughout and points us all to our heavenly home.
I love her thoughts in the passage. "What we didn't realize was that life is supposed to feel tight. This earthly skin of ours is meant to get stretch marks if we're pregnant with the hope of glory. We should wriggle with discomfort like our seams are about to burst until our labor in this life is over and our hope has been delivered."
Something Treasured: A trip to Chattanooga found us helping our youngest daughter move into a new apartment. We had not been down to visit her there in over a year. It was so nice to travel, even if it wasn't very far away. We have also had the opportunity to spend time with a few friends recently. It is so wonderful rekindling friendships after being apart for so long.
Something Ahead: Time off and celebrating our 32nd wedding anniversary.
Pray you've had a good April and you're ready to move onto May!
