Read: Proverbs 12
Verses: 1,18 (NLT)
(1)"To learn, you must love discipline; it is stupid to hate correction. (18) Some people make cutting remarks, but the words of the wise bring healing."
I love how many of these Proverbs just lay it on the line. They don't try to "soft sell" anything. I don't know about you, but I'm not a huge fan of discipline. It's hard and not fun to be disciplined to work out or eat more healthy. Also, as a perfectionist, I hate to make mistakes. The Lord has really been working with me on this lately! It's not a sin to make a mistake...I need to embrace the correction and not hate it! I recently read Shauna Niequist's book, "Present Over Perfect" where she encourages the reader to embrace the daily hard stuff and not to shy away from it, because life it not perfect and neither are we! It's a great read.
I love verse 18. The "words of the wise bring healing". I think that goes along with the correction in verse 1. If correction is done in love, it does bring healing and discipline!
I want to be one with wise words from the Lord that brings healing to my heart and to those around me. How about you?
